I’ve received a lot of correspondence from readers recently about nursing-specific clothes. I totally get it — once the pregnancy is over, you kind of want to be done with “maternity” clothes. The industry is wise to help us save a little change with tops and dresses that transition from pregnancy to nursing, but one of the best gifts you can give yourself as a new mama is some new clothes.
Enter milk nursingwear. Designed with real moms in mind, this fashion-conscious line is comprised of jersey knit, chiffon, and other easy-breezy fabrics to fit your active lifestyle without compromising style. I had the pleasure of selecting a top from their site and my eyes instantly narrowed in on a dual-layer tank top with a loose yet flattering fit. The bottom layer is shaped to easily allow nursing while the top layer creates discretion. You’ll find that the site demonstrates how each item works; from the infinity top (probably the next thing I’ll nab) to this striped dress, there are so many creative and unique pieces.
Since Willow has super-sensitive skin, I have to wash everything in Dreft before it comes near her. This top was easy to wash and I hung it dry. For a Sunday BBQ, I paired it with a black-and-white DVF skirt and my favorite nude Tory Burch platforms. I was a wee overdressed for the occasion, I’ll admit, but I was just so excited to be wearing a top that didn’t have buttons down the front! Win for Mommy! I was able to nurse discreetly at the party and I’m looking forward to pairing this dress-up-or-down essential with white jeans, denim shorts, and even leggings all summer long and into the fall.
