Weekend Weekend

I’ve always looked forward to the weekends, just like every other hot-blooded American. Even when I worked retail or PR and wasn’t “off,” there’s a lighter spirit at the weekend and more fun to be had. But as much as I adored those drunken college nights, single-girl NYC club-hopping, and later reckless eves on the town with my Joshy, now that we have a little, I love my weekends even more. There’s honestly nothing in the world like cuddling up with my girl and my man, passing a couple hours at Target, winding down with a small glass of wine right after feeding her, and generally just vegging out. So, in honor of my little Willow’s upcoming fourth weekend on Earth, a few weekend ensemble inspo items for you:

Baby
Warning: shameless Willow plug ahead. These days, we’re loving leg warmers for our little. They make diaper changes super-easy, and they look chicer than pants. I have been washing Willow’s black pair almost every day while we wait for more solids to come in the mail. She also has dots, and even a British flag. So super cute paired with a long-sleeve onesie. Today, I’m throwing a black hoodie with little ears on it into the mix, but she doesn’t like wearing hoodies in the house.

Single Gal
It’s all about color — think of the peacocks. Get noticed in an ensemble that’s laid back but stands out. Keep it monochromatic to avoid making things too “busy.” Her pops of burgundy throughout the outfit from the coat to the sweater to the scarf keep the eye moving but do not overwhelm. Slim-cut jeans and subtle brown boots finish it off. If I were looking for a man (or woman!) I’d be in this all weekend, every weekend, just walking down the street (or, in a field??) with skim double capp in hand.

Chic mama’s-to-be benefit from keeping it simple, especially on the weekend. My one regret about my maternity style is that I never invested in a pair of boyfriend jeans. Wow, do these look cute! Add a punchy shoe like these leopard print sneaks or your coziest ballet flats or moto boots. The fitted black lace top and slouchy cardigan make this brunch-ready and compliment-inducing. Get it girl!

Mama
On the suggestion of another cute mom friend, I ordered this adorable camo hoodie the other day. Mine hasn’t arrived yet, but this gets rave reviews for being super-comfy, and looking adorable with leggings, jeans, or whatever you have lying around the house. Wear your mama status proudly, especially on the weekend when cuddly duds are the best. Hoodie by Sly Fox Threads, $45.
