Guys, I was slated to do a how-to post on those DIY hand-print picture frames today and I swear, I will next week. But for the moment — for the day — I’ll be taking a pause to truly soak in the joy and pride and satisfaction at this morning’s decision.
The US Supreme Court has FINALLY legalized gay marriage in every single one of our fifty beautiful states. I am bursting with rainbow-colored glitter. My faith in humanity is restored. I am broken-hearted for the many American couples who were born in the wrong lifetime and didn’t get to see this day, didn’t get to marry their beloved. But love wins today.
I wish I could grow Willow up for 90 seconds (and then right back down to baby size after) so I could explain in a real conversation how absolutely awesome this day is. I want to cry and laugh with her and tell her that when she is ready to marry, it won’t matter if that person is a man or a woman, or where they want to live and carry out their dreams.
But instead, I’ll be doing a little happy dance that she doesn’t understand. Toasting my deserving family members, friends, and everyone else out there I’ll never know… who can go ahead and get hitched if that’s what they want to do. Because marriage is an incredible journey, and it’s about damn time we let everybody enjoy it. OH, HAPPY DAY!
